This role involves the design, development, and commissioning of electrical control systems for industrial machinery. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from software development and electrical design through to on-site commissioning and customer support.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Siemens PLCs, including TIA Portal and WinCC, S7-1500 and S7-1200 controllers, WinCC and WinCC Unified HMIs, and ladder logic programming.
  • Experience programming Siemens Safety PLCs.
  • Knowledge of industrial drives, such as Siemens G120/S120 or Control Techniques M700.
  • Ability to produce electrical CAD drawings using E-Plan, including 2D panel layouts and multi-line schematics.
  • Specification and selection of suitable components.
  • Experience using LabVIEW.
  • Working knowledge of UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations and EU Machinery Directive.
  • Methodical and accurate approach with strong communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain control software using Siemens platforms and LabVIEW.
  • Design and implement new control software solutions.
  • Produce wiring diagrams and schematics for control panels and field installations using E-Plan.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults in existing electro-mechanical systems.
  • Design, develop, and integrate upgrades to existing control and automation systems.
  • Commission and test new machinery, including software developed in-house.
  • Support the preparation of sales and technical proposals.
  • Prepare designs for manufacture and liaise with external suppliers.
  • Supervise electrical technicians during build and installation phases.
  • Manage and oversee electrical sub-contractors on design and build projects.
  • Travel to UK customer sites for machine installation and commissioning.
  • Occasional overnight stays or short-term work away from home may be required.
