Contract Commissioning Engineer – Food & Beverage Location: Liverpool Duration: 6 Months (Initially) Rate: £40 – £50 per hour (Outside IR35) Overview: We\’re supporting a leading Food & Beverage manufacturer in Liverpool who are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join their project team on a 6-month contract. This role will play a key part in ensuring the successful installation, commissioning, and validation of new and upgraded process and packaging equipment across the facility. Key Responsibilities: Lead and execute mechanical installation and commissioning activities for food and beverage machinery and process systems. Work closely with the engineering, maintenance, and production teams to ensure smooth handover of equipment into operation. Conduct functional testing, troubleshooting, and optimisation to achieve full system performance and compliance. Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and installation teams during on-site works. Review and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals. Ensure all commissioning activities comply with site safety standards, including ATEX and hygiene regulations. Prepare and maintain accurate commissioning documentation, including FAT/SAT records and validation reports. Requirements: Minimum of 10 years\’ experience within the Food & Beverage or Pharmaceutical sector. Proven track record in commissioning, installation, and mechanical integration of production or process machinery. Strong mechanical understanding of rotating equipment, conveyors, fillers, mixers, or packaging systems. Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and process issues during commissioning phases. Knowledge of ATEX environments and related safety requirements (desirable). Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Self-sufficient and able to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment
