The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for commissioning various EV charging infrastructure projects across the UK and mentoring young aspiring commissioning technicians. A strong understanding of EV charging systems, HV electrical infrastructure, and charger commissioning is essential.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Mentor up and coming Test & Commissioning technicians.
  • Carry out and document all tasks associated with the pre-commissioning / commissioning of EV charging equipment.
  • Be responsible for handing over a fully operational EV charging system for acceptance by the customer.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures and standards are followed on site.
  • Ensure all health and safety documentation is filed, maintained and updated on site.
  • Ensure commissioning schedules, handover and witnessing documents are updated, maintained, completed and filed / issued to project manager prior to project completion.
  • Carry out factory acceptance testing when required, site acceptance testing and customer witnessing.
  • Perform charger configuration, software setup, and connectivity checks where required.
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnostics on EV charging systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Ensure sites are cleared of equipment and materials / products prior to handover / completion.
  • To undertake any other duties as requested by senior staff within the company.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Good working knowledge of EV charging infrastructure and LV electrical systems.
  • Experience commissioning AC and DC EV chargers.
  • Ability to carry out electrical testing such as insulation resistance, continuity testing, earthing verification, phase rotation and functional testing.
  • Experience fault finding on EV charging systems and associated communication networks.
  • Understanding of charger communications and backend connectivity systems is advantageous.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to work with charger manufacturers' software and carry out minor configuration changes where required.
  • Installation testing on LV distribution systems associated with EV charging infrastructure.
  • Assist Senior Commissioning Engineers on major projects.
