Location: Sussex (London & South East travel)

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + overtime + bonus + benefits

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist energy monitoring business delivering high-quality metering and data solutions. This is a field-based role with varied site work across London and the South East (occasional UK wide travel), working with major system integrators, OEMs and modern technologies. You will be part of a stable, employee-owned company that prioritises technical development, training, and long-term career growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission and configure energy monitoring systems and in-house products on-site
  • Integrate systems with Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Install and configure utility meters (electricity, heat, water, gas)
  • Work with protocols including Modbus, M-Bus, and BACnet
  • Set up and troubleshoot IP-based network infrastructure
  • Ensure accurate data capture for monitoring and billing platforms
  • Diagnose and resolve integration and communication faults
  • Produce commissioning reports and technical documentation

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with BMS, building controls, or system integration
  • Knowledge of metering systems and data logging
  • Experience with Modbus, M-Bus, and BACnet protocols
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Basic networking knowledge (IP, routers, switches)
  • Electrical or controls engineering background
  • Strong communication skills with client-facing experience
  • IT literate
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel
