The Opportunity
We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist energy monitoring business delivering high-quality metering and data solutions. This is a field-based role with varied site work across London and the South East (occasional UK wide travel), working with major system integrators, OEMs and modern technologies. You will be part of a stable, employee-owned company that prioritises technical development, training, and long-term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Commission and configure energy monitoring systems and in-house products on-site
- Integrate systems with Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Install and configure utility meters (electricity, heat, water, gas)
- Work with protocols including Modbus, M-Bus, and BACnet
- Set up and troubleshoot IP-based network infrastructure
- Ensure accurate data capture for monitoring and billing platforms
- Diagnose and resolve integration and communication faults
- Produce commissioning reports and technical documentation
Skills & Experience
- Experience with BMS, building controls, or system integration
- Knowledge of metering systems and data logging
- Experience with Modbus, M-Bus, and BACnet protocols
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Basic networking knowledge (IP, routers, switches)
- Electrical or controls engineering background
- Strong communication skills with client-facing experience
- IT literate
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel
