Role Overview
We are supporting an innovative engineering business developing advanced electronic products for the EV and power management sector. Due to continued growth, evolving market regulations, and expansion into international markets, they are looking to recruit an Electronics Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary engineering team. This role will involve taking products from initial concept through schematic design, validation, and into full volume manufacture. The successful candidate will work across both electronics hardware and embedded software development, contributing to next-generation control and communication systems used within high-performance power and charging applications. You will work closely with experienced engineers within the business, supporting the development of complex embedded systems involving power switching, communication protocols, and embedded Linux environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic systems from concept through to production
- Create schematic capture and PCB layouts using Altium Designer
- Support product validation, testing, and manufacturing release activities
- Develop embedded software and low-level drivers in C/C++
- Integrate devices and peripherals using protocols such as I2C, SPI, and CAN Bus
- Support firmware integration into embedded Linux or RTOS environments
- Work with 32-bit processor-based systems and ARM-core architectures
- Assist with debugging, system integration, and hardware bring-up activities
- Contribute to communication and control systems for power management products
- Support development of PC-based test applications and validation tools where required
Required Skills & Experience
- HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in electronic design and PCB development using Altium Designer
- Strong embedded C/C++ programming experience
- Experience working with communication buses including: CAN Bus, SPI, I2C
- Understanding of embedded systems and low-level driver development
- Experience integrating hardware into RTOS or embedded Linux environments
- Experience working with 32-bit processors or higher
- Ability to support products through the full development lifecycle
Desirable Experience
- EV industry or power electronics experience
- ARM core or NXP i.MX93 processor experience
- Embedded Linux or Yocto exposure
- Experience developing PC applications or automated test tools
- Python, Visual C, or C# experience
- Knowledge of relay switching, mains voltage systems, or power control systems
- Experience with TCP/IP communications
