This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to commissioning and mentoring junior colleagues along the way. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and commissioning control systems for a variety of automated machinery and industrial applications.
Location and Details
- Location: West Yorkshire (Hybrid working considered for suitable candidates)
- Salary: £50,000 - £62,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
- Benefits: Company car; Paid mileage; 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5:00pm; Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm
- Contract: Permanent
The Role
An established engineering business operating within industrial automation and bespoke machinery is seeking a Senior Controls Software Engineer to join its growing team. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to commissioning and mentoring junior colleagues along the way.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics
- Design and write PLC, HMI, and SCADA software from scratch
- Lead commissioning activities on machinery and automated systems
- Travel to customer sites across the UK, with potential for international travel
- Provide technical leadership and support to junior engineers
- Ensure projects are delivered to specification, on time, and to a high standard
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a controls or automation engineering role
- Strong PLC programming experience with one or more of the following: Siemens; Allen Bradley; Omron; Mitsubishi
- Exposure to HMI and SCADA system design
- Experience across a range of industrial sectors (flexible background considered)
- Willingness to travel for commissioning activities
- Clean UK driving licence
