Overview
The Role
We are seeking an experienced BMS Commissioning Engineer to join our team in Birmingham. This role is focused on the commissioning, testing, and optimisation of Building Management Systems across a range of commercial and industrial projects. You will play a key role in ensuring systems are delivered to specification, operate efficiently, and meet client and project requirements. This position offers the opportunity to work on varied projects, collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients, and contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality BMS solutions. It is well suited to a technically strong engineer who enjoys problem-solving, site-based work, and taking ownership of commissioning activities from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Commission BMS installations in line with project specifications, control strategies, and industry standards.
- Test and verify system functionality, optimise performance, and ensure seamless integration with mechanical and electrical plant.
- Diagnose and resolve commissioning issues efficiently, supporting projects to meet programme and quality expectations.
- Work closely with project managers, design teams, and other engineers to ensure systems are delivered correctly and on time.
- Support clients during handover, providing technical guidance and assistance where required.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are fully documented, including test results and as-built information.
- Carry out work in compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of BMS commissioning, controls, and control strategies
- Good understanding of electrical systems, control panel wiring, and networking protocols
- Sound knowledge of mechanical plant and HVAC systems
- Proven ability to fault-find, test, and commission BMS systems methodically
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and project teams
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid CSCS/ECS card (preferred)
- Full UK driving licence
