Mechanical Design Engineer - Contract
Location: Kettering
Rate: £30-£40 per hour
Contract: Initial contract position
We are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a manufacturing/engineering environment in Kettering on a contract basis.
The role will involve a mixture of site surveying, mechanical design and 3D CAD, supporting factory layouts, pipework and machinery projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Survey existing and new pipework runs and produce relevant documentation.
- Survey and design machine guarding, ensuring designs are practical and compliant with relevant engineering standards.
- Produce 3D models for new factory layouts and skids.
- Produce 2D plan drawings of factory layouts.
- Prepare supporting technical documentation.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver practical design solutions.
Ideal background:
- Mechanical Design Engineering experience.
- Strong 3D CAD experience.
- Experience with pipework, machine guarding, factory layouts or skids would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of engineering standards and technical documentation.
- Able to work independently on site surveys and design projects.
