Most senior Power Platform roles come in two flavours. Either you are in-house, building variations of the same three apps for the same one business, or you are at a large consultancy where you are a line on a schedule board and never meet the people who use what you build. This is neither. Vantage 365 Consultancy is one of four specialist Microsoft companies trading under the Vantage 365 brand, alongside Training, Support and Recruitment. We are a Microsoft Solutions Partner based in the West Midlands, and we build Power Platform solutions for organisations including a global law firm, a film distributor, a construction testing business and a sports wellbeing charity. You will meet the people who use your work, and you will be there when they tell you what they think of it.

What you will actually be doing

  • You will lead Power Platform engagements end to end: scoping the problem with the customer, designing the solution, building it, and standing behind it once it is live.
  • A typical quarter might include:
    • Designing and building canvas and model-driven apps on Dataverse for a customer replacing a spreadsheet-and-email process.
    • Setting up Power Platform governance for an organisation whose citizen developers have got ahead of their controls, including environment strategy, DLP policies and the CoE Starter Kit.
    • Rescuing an app somebody else built that has stopped scaling.
    • Automating a process with Power Automate that touches SharePoint, Dataverse and a line-of-business system.
    • Building a Copilot Studio agent, and being honest with the customer about where it will and will not help.
    • Acting as the escalation point for our Tier 1 and Tier 2 specialists, and reviewing their solutions before they reach a customer.
    • Writing the documentation properly, because the next person needs it and so does the customer.

You will report to the Operations Director, and you will have real influence over how we deliver, not just what we deliver.

Why this role is worth your time

  • You will get variety that in-house roles cannot match. Different sectors, different data, different constraints, several projects a year rather than one roadmap.
  • You will build genuine depth, not just breadth.
  • We allocate learning and development time to every member of staff. Certifications are paid for. If you want to sit PL-600 or go deep on Fabric, that is a conversation, not a battle.
  • You can teach if you want to. Vantage 365 Training is an accredited Microsoft training provider running around 140 courses. Senior people who want to deliver Power Platform training as part of their week can do so. It is optional, and it is one of the fastest ways there is to find the holes in your own knowledge.
  • You will be trusted. You will not be micromanaged, and you will not be asked to pad timesheets. We measure whether tasks land on time and whether your development plan is progressing. That is it.
  • Your career is a conversation, not a ladder you wait on. New starters have an envisioning session in their first weeks to work out what they want their career to look like. Senior Specialist is not the end of the path; Principal Specialist sits above it.

What we need from you

  • Several years of hands-on Power Platform delivery, with a track record of leading projects rather than being assigned tasks on them.
  • Deep practical experience with Power Apps (canvas and model-driven), Power Automate and Dataverse.
  • Solid working knowledge of Power Pages, Copilot Studio, Power BI and how the platform sits inside Microsoft 365.
  • Real understanding of ALM: solutions, environments, deployment pipelines, source control.
  • The judgement to tell a customer when the Power Platform is the wrong answer.
  • Excellent written English, because your documentation will outlive the project.
  • The confidence to lead a customer workshop and the patience to mentor someone less experienced.
  • A growth mindset: you welcome feedback, you are comfortable saying you do not know, and you go and find out.

Relevant certifications (PL-200, PL-400, PL-600) are welcome. If you have the experience and not the badges, we will get you the badges.

This role is not right for you if

  • You want to be fully remote. This is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in Brierley Hill (dependent on distance), and there will be customer sites.
  • You want to write pro-code all day. There is plenty of technical depth here, but this is a low-code platform role with plugins and custom connectors where they earn their place, not a full-time .NET position.
  • You dislike writing things down. Documentation is a core part of the job, not an afterthought.
  • You want the highest salary on the market. We pay fairly and we are transparent about the band. We are not going to be the top number in the market, and we would rather say so now.
  • You want to specialise in one product and never look at anything else. Consultancy means the problem picks the technology, not the other way round.

How to prepare for a job interview at Vantage 365 Training Services

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Vantage 365 Training Services uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
