Job Description Machine Shop Technician Location: High Wycombe Salary: £31,000 per annum Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday Vanta Staffing are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Machine Shop Technician to join an established engineering and manufacturing business based in High Wycombe. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with CNC machining experience who wants to expand their technical skills, work with a variety of machinery and contribute to improving manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be involved in producing precision-engineered components, supporting day-to-day workshop operations and identifying ways to improve efficiency, quality and output. Set up and operate CNC turning machines to manufacture precision components. Operate conventional lathes, milling machines and other workshop equipment as required. Select suitable tooling and machining methods to achieve accurate, high-quality results. Carry out dimensional inspections using appropriate precision measuring instruments. Complete first-off and in-process checks to ensure components meet quality requirements. Perform routine machine checks and basic maintenance. Identify opportunities to improve machining methods, productivity and turnaround times. Support the introduction of more efficient CNC machining processes where appropriate. Help develop consistent working methods and best practices across the workshop. Machinery and Equipment You will have the opportunity to work with a range of CNC and conventional workshop equipment, including: CNC turning machines. Manual lathes and milling machines. Drilling and cutting machinery. General workshop tools and associated equipment. Experience with different machine types will be advantageous, although a willingness to learn and develop is equally important. Essential Skills and Experience Previous experience operating CNC machine tools. Good knowledge of machining processes, tooling and manufacturing techniques. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality components. Experience with CNC turning equipment, particularly Haas machines. CNC programming or editing experience. Experience operating conventional lathes and milling machines. Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards. A varied role involving CNC and conventional machining. Potential long-term career progression into a senior or supervisory position.
