Vans For Bands (VFB) operates one of the UK’s leading fleets of premium Mercedes-Benz splitter vans and touring vehicles, serving customers across the music, comedy, television, theatre, events and sports industries. We are seeking an experienced Master Technician or Senior LCV Technician to take a leading role in maintaining our fleet to the highest mechanical, safety and presentation standards. The Role
You will join our mechanical maintenance team, maintaining and repairing our fleet of predominantly Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, together with a small number of Mercedes Vitos and Volkswagen Transporters. This is a hands-on technical role ideally suited to a highly skilled technician who enjoys advanced diagnostics, fault finding and maintaining vehicles to dealer-level standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance inspections and repairs in accordance with company and DVSA standards
- Advanced diagnosis of mechanical, electrical and CAN-bus related faults
- Using manufacturer-level diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify complex vehicle issues
- Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOT testing
- Investigating recurring defects and implementing long-term solutions
- Completing accurate maintenance records and workshop documentation
- Ordering parts and managing repairs in accordance with company procedures
- Attending vehicle breakdowns (rare) and providing technical support where required
- Road testing vehicles to verify faults and confirm repair quality
- Assisting with the development of workshop procedures and maintenance standards
- Supporting and mentoring less experienced technicians where appropriate
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop environment
- Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations
