An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and commercially minded Trading Analyst to join a fast-growing organisation within the energy sector. This Front Office role blends data analysis with financial decision-making, offering the chance to directly influence trading strategy and portfolio performance. You will operate similarly to a data analyst but with a strong financial and market focus - translating data into actionable trading insights, supporting algorithmic strategies, and helping to optimise revenue in a dynamic and evolving market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside an automated trading platform to provide real-time insights and actively support portfolio management.
  • Analyse market data to identify trading opportunities and enhance short-term power trading strategies.
  • Produce regular reports on trading performance, market trends, and revenue optimisation opportunities.
  • Translate complex data into clear, commercially focused insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve and refine trading models and algorithms.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and proactively intervene to maximise value.
  • Support effective collateral management across the trading function.
  • Investigate market dynamics and communicate key insights across the trading team.
  • Contribute to accurate execution of daily trading activities.

About You

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Analytics).
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the GB energy market.
  • Experience in short-term power trading within Great Britain.
  • Strong interest in financial markets, energy trading, and revenue optimisation.
  • Experience producing reports and presenting data-driven insights.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and commercial teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a product, data, or engineering-led environment.
  • Exposure to Virtual Power Plants (VPPs).
  • Experience working with trading systems, Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools.

Working Arrangements

Hybrid model: minimum 3 days per week in the Belfast office (Tuesday is a core in-office day).
