We are currently partnering with a leading, independent commercial law firm in Belfast to recruit a Newly Qualified Solicitor to join its highly regarded Dispute Resolution team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established litigation practice recognised for its pragmatic, commercially focused approach and strong reputation for handling complex, high-value disputes across a broad client base. The team is known for its close client relationships, responsive service, and ability to deliver clear, strategic advice in fast-moving and often high-pressure matters.
You will join a busy and experienced dispute resolution team, gaining exposure to a varied and high-quality caseload of commercial litigation matters. Working closely with senior lawyers and partners, you will receive strong supervision alongside early responsibility.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with and managing a broad range of commercial dispute resolution matters
- Drafting pleadings, legal correspondence, witness statements, and court documents
- Supporting hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
- Conducting legal research and providing clear, practical analysis on complex issues
- Engaging directly with clients, counsel, and other stakeholders where appropriate
- Assisting on strategic case management and dispute resolution planning
- Working on matters including contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, procurement issues, IP-related disputes, property litigation, and professional negligence claims
- Supporting partners on high-value and often sensitive or time-critical matters
The team is frequently instructed by well-known organisations across sectors such as property, financial services, technology, infrastructure, and professional services, giving you strong exposure to commercially significant disputes.
The Candidate
This role is ideal for a motivated Newly Qualified Solicitor with a genuine interest in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
Key criteria:
- Recently qualified solicitor (or due to qualify shortly) in Northern Ireland or a comparable jurisdiction
- Training seat experience in litigation or dispute resolution
- Strong understanding of civil procedure and commercial dispute principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical ability with a keen eye for detail
- A proactive, team-oriented and client-focused approach
- Ability to manage workload effectively in a fast-paced environment
Desirable experience:
- Exposure to commercial litigation, arbitration, or contentious advisory work during training
- Experience working on complex or high-value disputes
- Involvement in multidisciplinary or client-facing project work
- Interest in developing advocacy or courtroom experience over time
