VANRATH is working with a large, well-established food and grocery distribution business on the appointment of a Senior Warehouse and Operations Manager at their Belfast depot. This is a senior appointment with full ownership of the depot operation.

You will run the warehouse to service level and budget, lead the line management team and keep KPIs, health and safety and food safety standards where they need to be, all while maintaining strong staff relations.

Permanent role, 24-hour operation, working 5 days from 7 on a shift pattern agreed locally with your manager.

The Role

  • Organise, plan and manage the full warehouse operation to service levels, budget and KPI targets.
  • Direct and motivate the line management team against operational goals.
  • Manage depot performance, attendance, quality and health and safety.
  • Deliver best in class service to retailers, liaising with other departments and suppliers.
  • Drive continuous improvement using lean methodology and make full use of the technology available.
  • Lead, develop and retain the team, with effective performance review, succession and communication structures in place.
  • Take the lead on all IR and trade union matters.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture, making sure accidents are investigated and corrective actions closed out.
  • Protect food safety and quality in storage and transport, keeping teams trained and competent.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience within the logistics sector, ideally with national multiple deliveries weekly.
  • Proven leadership ability with the skill to motivate a large team.
  • Strategic thinker who can problem solve in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communicator, customer focused and driven.
  • Knowledge of distribution operational systems, health and safety and HACCP processes would be an advantage.
  • IR awareness and experience of staff and union interface would be an advantage.
  • Third level qualification in logistics or supply chain desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
