VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our major Public Sector client, a large organisation with the recruitment of a Member Services Officer to join their team based in Newtownabbey.

About your next employer

You'll be joining a progressive local authority within its Finance and Governance function. The Member Services team plays a vital role in supporting elected representatives, facilitating committee processes and ensuring the effective administration of Council business.

About you

  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant administrative or clerical experience
  • Experience preparing agendas, reports, minutes and correspondence
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Experience supporting meetings and committee administration (desirable)
  • Knowledge of governance or committee procedures (desirable)
  • Full driving licence (or access to suitable transport)

What you'll do

  • Provide confidential administrative support to elected members and Council committees
  • Coordinate agendas, reports, meeting papers and committee documentation
  • Attend meetings, record proceedings and prepare accurate minutes
  • Manage paperless meeting systems and document circulation processes
  • Maintain records relating to member attendance, committees and declarations
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, room bookings and virtual meeting arrangements
  • Support Freedom of Information requests and governance reporting requirements
  • Assist with mayoral and civic administration activities
  • Arrange member travel, accommodation and conference attendance
  • Maintain calendars, records and administrative systems
  • Liaise with internal departments, elected members and external stakeholders
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service and administrative support throughout the organisation
