VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our major Public Sector client, a large organisation with the recruitment of an Economic Development Project Officer to join their team based in Newtownabbey.

You'll be joining a progressive local government organisation committed to driving economic development, regeneration and infrastructure investment across the borough. Working within the Economic Development and Planning function, the Regeneration team delivers strategic master-plans, town centre initiatives and externally funded programmes aligned to regional growth strategies.
About you
- A relevant third level qualification (Level 4 or above) in a business-related or similar discipline OR at least 2 years' relevant experience
- Minimum 1 year's recent experience in economic development, regeneration, rural or community development
- Experience managing, monitoring or vouching funding applications and claims (desirable)
- Experience of public procurement processes (desirable)
- Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills
- Good financial and analytical ability
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Full driving licence and access to transport
- Flexibility to attend occasional evening meetings
What you'll do
- Support the delivery of regeneration and economic development programmes
- Assist with funding applications, claims, monitoring and compliance processes
- Review business plans and financial information to inform project assessments
- Monitor project performance, budgets and funding
- Support town centre engagement initiatives and stakeholder collaboration
- Maintain accurate project records to meet audit and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to procurement and contractor appointment processes
- Prepare reports, briefings and performance information for senior management and committee
