VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our major Public Sector client, a large organisation with the recruitment of a Crematorium to join their team based in Newtownabbey. What's in it for you? £17.45 per hour Monday to Friday working pattern Opportunity to work within a local authority environment About your next employer You will be joining a local authority's Parks & Leisure Operations team, working within an established crematorium service. The Crematorium Technician will play a key role in ensuring the effective operation of cremators and associated equipment, while providing a professional, caring and dignified service to bereaved families, funeral directors, officiants and members of the public. About you You will ideally have: Crematorium Technician Training Scheme (CTTS) accreditation, or be willing to complete the required training and professional qualification Experience working within a bereavement-related environment Strong customer service and communication skills The ability to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity when dealing with bereaved individuals Good literacy and numeracy skills Knowledge of health and safety practices The ability to work effectively as part of a team Basic Windows IT skills What you'll do Operate cremators and associated crematory equipment in accordance with relevant legislation, guidance and Codes of Practice Undertake visual checks and monitor the cremation process, recording and reporting defects or non-compliance Monitor analytical equipment, including changing filters and undertaking calibration as required Compile statistical information and reports Maintain accurate, secure and accessible records in line with crematorium requirements Follow procedures for the identification of the deceased and processing of cremated remains Ensure the collection, identification, storage and final disposal of cremated remains is correctly documented Act as a first point of contact for customers, demonstrating tact, sympathy and respect Maintain positive and dignified relationships with funeral directors, officiants, bereaved families and other stakeholders Operate ceremony room equipment, including webcasting, visual tribute and audio systems Adhere rigorously to health and safety, COSHH, manual handling, risk assessment and accident reporting procedures Participate in training, development, coaching and mentoring as required Support events and promotional activities, including Open Days and Commemorative Services Undertake other relevant duties as required by the service.
