The Role
- Category Performance: Deliver category sales, margin, and profit in line with or exceeding budget. Analyse weekly performance against budget and forecast, with clear action plans to address gaps.
- Supplier Management: Execute Joint Business Plans with key suppliers. Negotiate cost prices and manage cost increase proposals. Implement regulatory changes and maximise digital opportunities across online and Foodservice channels.
- Promotion Planning: Develop effective promotional strategies to drive profitable growth. Review promotional performance with suppliers to ensure focus on the strongest sales drivers.
- Range & Product Strategy: Deliver successful new range launches. Support range reviews and reordering across all departments.
- Seasonal Management: Deliver sales and profit targets for seasonal events. Monitor market trends to develop competitive ranges and pricing.
- Sales & Operations Collaboration: Build strong relationships with sales teams and key customers. Coach and support teams on category changes and priorities.
- Pricing & Administration: Ensure accurate price file and flyer sign-off, compliant with UTP legislation. Review pricing and margins to maintain a market-leading price position through improved sourcing.
- People Leadership: Build a high-performing, engaged team through clear direction, stretching targets, and regular performance reviews.
- Supply Chain: Maintain target inbound service levels and secure consistent product supply for all customers.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in FMCG retail or foodservice within a trading/buying role.
- Ability to prioritise effectively, manage pressure, and focus on what matters most.
