VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a long-established, community-focused accountancy practice as they seek to appoint a part-qualified or fully qualified Accountant to join their growing team. This is a rare opportunity to join a reputable, family-run firm with an excellent local reputation, offering a supportive culture, genuine work-life balance, and the option of a three or four day working week.
The Role
This position is ideal for an Accountant who enjoys variety, client interaction, and the chance to add real value to local owner-managed businesses. Working closely with the leadership team, you will support a broad client base across accounts preparation, tax compliance, and advisory work within a modern, tech-enabled environment.
What You Will Do
- Prepare year-end accounts for a portfolio of sole traders, partnerships, and small limited companies
- Complete corporation tax and personal tax returns
- Assist with bookkeeping, VAT returns, and digital accounting systems
- Liaise directly with clients, providing clear guidance and building strong relationships
- Support the integration of cloud-based accounting solutions
- Contribute to advisory and business-support projects as the practice continues to grow
- Work collaboratively with the small internal team to ensure high-quality service delivery

Requirements
- Part-qualified or fully qualified (ACA/ACCA)
- Experience in an accountancy practice environment
- Strong accounts preparation and tax compliance experience
- Confident communicator with a client-focused approach
- Ability to manage workload independently while contributing to a small, close-knit team
- Comfortable using cloud-based accounting systems (e.g. Xero/QuickBooks)
- A genuine interest in supporting local small businesses
