Vanrath are pleased to be recruiting for Band 4 Family Support Worker on behalf of a Public Sector body in Derry on a temp basis.

ROLE PURPOSE:

  • To provide a flexible support service to families with children in need in keeping with the assessed Care Plan, which will include some evening/weekend work.
  • To assist Social Workers in assessing the needs of children, young people and families in accordance with Legislation, Policy and Procedure.
  • To assist Social Workers in the implementation of Child Care Plans.
  • To undertake direct work with children and young people.
  • To facilitate supervised Family Time/contact arrangements, which will include driving duties.
  • To support parents, children and young people in developing confidence and self-esteem.
  • To contribute to parenting programmes (individual and group work).
  • To maintain individual caseloads and provide reports and information as required, including giving evidence in Court.
  • To maintain appropriate records.
  • To participate in supervision, peer support groups and appropriate training and developments.
  • To participate in Team Meetings and contribute to the development of the Team.

About you:

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a care related subject or an educational related subject AND 1 years' experience of working with families/children in a formal setting, where the work was regular OR Level 2 qualification in a Care related or an educational related subject AND 2 years' experience of working with families/children in a formal setting, where the work was regular OR 4 years' experience of working with families/children in a formal setting, where the work was regular.
  • Currently hold or be eligible for immediate registration with the NISCC on the Social Care part of the register.
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
