My client, an established technology company operating within a highly regulated sector, is hiring AI Engineers to join a newly formed AI Centre of Excellence based in the North West. You will join an experienced technology team responsible for shaping the future direction of AI across the business. Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders, you will design, develop and deploy AI-powered solutions that solve real business challenges while ensuring scalability, security and responsible AI practices.

As an AI Engineer, you will work on the development of Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents and enterprise AI applications within the Microsoft ecosystem. You will be responsible for integrating AI capabilities into existing platforms, improving model performance and helping establish best practices around governance, security and responsible AI usage.

The Role:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders and clients to translate business requirements into AI-driven solutions
  • Design, develop and maintain LLM-based applications and AI agents
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing enterprise platforms and workflows
  • Measure, monitor and improve AI solution performance, scalability and security
  • Develop and consume REST APIs to support AI-powered services
  • Contribute to technical standards, governance frameworks and responsible AI initiatives
  • Collaborate with software engineering, architecture and product teams to deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions

The Person:

  • Degree in Computing, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years' commercial software development experience
  • Strong backend development experience using either C# or Python
  • Experience developing and consuming REST APIs
  • Experience building or implementing LLM-based solutions and AI applications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud technologies
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and scalable system design
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Studio or Azure AI Foundry
  • Experience designing AI agents, RAG architectures or intelligent automation solutions
  • Financial services, insurance or other regulated industry experience
  • Microsoft AI certifications such as Azure AI Fundamentals or Azure AI Engineer Associate
  • Understanding of AI governance, security and responsible AI frameworks
