This is a particularly interesting opportunity for an experienced planning and environmental lawyer who is considering their next move and wants more than simply another role within another firm.
The practice has an excellent reputation in the Northern Ireland market and acts on a broad range of significant and complex matters for both public and private sector clients. Its work spans major development and infrastructure projects, energy and renewables, planning and environmental regulation, enforcement, appeals, public law and judicial review.
The opportunity
The successful individual will join an established specialist team and will have the opportunity to take a significant role in the continued development of the practice. The precise shape of the opportunity will depend on the experience, ambitions and profile of the successful candidate. This could therefore suit an established senior lawyer looking for a new platform, a senior associate or legal director ready for the next stage of their career, or an existing partner who is attracted by the quality of the work, platform and opportunity to develop their practice further.
The role could involve:
- Leading complex planning and environmental matters;
- Advising major public and private sector clients;
- Acting on significant development, infrastructure and energy projects;
- Planning appeals, inquiries, enforcement and regulatory matters;
- Environmental and planning due diligence;
- Public law and judicial review work;
- Developing existing client relationships and creating new opportunities;
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues within the wider team;
- Contributing to the strategic development and continued growth of the practice.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an established planning and/or environmental lawyer with a strong technical background and a genuine interest in developing their career and client base within a leading practice. You may already be operating at senior associate, legal director or partner level. Equally, if you are a strong senior solicitor who feels ready for a significant step forward, we would be interested in speaking with you. What matters most is the quality and relevance of your experience, your client relationships, your ambition and what you could bring to the practice.
We would particularly welcome conversations with lawyers who have experience across areas such as:
- Planning and development;
- Environmental law and regulation;
- Major infrastructure and energy projects;
- Planning appeals and inquiries;
- Public law and judicial review;
- Planning/environmental enforcement;
- Public sector advisory work.
Why explore this opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a leading and well-established Planning & Environmental practice, with an excellent reputation, a strong client base and a significant pipeline of high-quality work. The firm offers market-leading remuneration and benefits, together with excellent hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
For a senior lawyer, the attraction goes beyond remuneration. You will be joining an established platform with the quality of work, clients and wider infrastructure to support the continued development of your practice. There is also genuine scope to influence the future direction of the team and to build on an already successful practice, with the precise level and structure of the opportunity remaining open for the right individual.
The firm is particularly interested in speaking confidentially with senior lawyers who may not currently be looking to move but would be interested in understanding what a different platform could offer. If you are an experienced Planning & Environmental lawyer and would be open to a confidential conversation about what your next move could look like, we would be very keen to speak with you.
