A career-enhancing opportunity to join a leading commercial law firm and highly regarded Employment team. We are working with a highly respected commercial law firm in Belfast in relation to an exciting opportunity within its established Employment practice. This is an opportunity for an experienced Employment solicitor to move to a high-quality commercial platform, working alongside an established team on sophisticated and commercially significant matters for an impressive client base.
The firm offers leading remuneration, excellent hybrid working and genuine opportunities for career progression. This is an opportunity to join a high-quality, commercially focused team advising a broad range of domestic and international businesses, as well as public and private sector organisations, on a wide variety of employment matters. The team works on interesting and complex issues across both contentious and non-contentious employment law, with strong exposure to senior stakeholders and major organisations.
The opportunity
The successful candidate will join an established Employment team and will have the opportunity to work on a broad and varied caseload, including:
- Advising employers on day-to-day and strategic employment matters;
- Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation;
- Discrimination, unfair dismissal and other contentious employment matters;
- Drafting and advising on employment contracts, service agreements, policies and procedures;
- Trade union and industrial relations matters;
- Employment aspects of corporate transactions, including M&A and TUPE;
- Advising on workforce planning, restructuring and organisational change;
- Providing practical advice to HR teams, management and senior stakeholders;
- Advising clients on developing employment legislation and best practice.
The role offers excellent exposure to high-quality work and the opportunity to work closely with experienced employment lawyers and sophisticated clients.
Who are we looking for?
The firm is ideally looking for an experienced Employment solicitor, with a guideline of around three years' PQE or above, who is looking to take the next step in their career within a leading commercial law firm. However, the firm is deliberately keeping this opportunity open. If you have strong relevant Employment experience but do not fit neatly within a particular PQE bracket, we would still be very interested in hearing from you.
You will ideally have:
- Strong experience in employment law, whether contentious, non-contentious or a combination of both;
- Excellent technical, drafting and analytical skills;
- A commercially minded and pragmatic approach;
- The confidence to advise clients directly and build strong relationships;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- An interest in developing your career within a leading commercial practice.
Experience of advising corporate clients and/or working alongside corporate teams would be particularly attractive, although this is not essential.
Why this opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a leading commercial law firm with an excellent reputation and an established Employment practice, rather than simply making a move for the sake of moving. You will be working on high-quality, commercially significant matters for an impressive client base, alongside experienced lawyers in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The role offers genuine scope to develop your technical expertise, client relationships and broader commercial experience, with excellent opportunities for career progression within a firm that actively supports the development of its lawyers. The firm also offers a highly attractive overall package, including leading remuneration and benefits, together with excellent hybrid and flexible working arrangements. The firm recognises the importance of flexibility and offers a strong hybrid working model alongside a genuinely attractive career proposition.
Interested in exploring the opportunity?
We appreciate that many of the strongest candidates in the Belfast market are already working in good roles and may not be actively looking to move. This opportunity is therefore aimed as much at those who are open to the right conversation as those who are actively job hunting. If you are an Employment solicitor who would be open to a confidential conversation about what your next move could look like, we would be very happy to speak with you.
You may already be happy where you are - but if the right combination of quality work, career progression, remuneration and flexibility would make you consider a move, this is one worth exploring. The firm is open-minded on level and seniority and is interested in meeting strong Employment lawyers who can add value to the team.
