VANRATH is working with a large, well-established food and grocery distribution business on the appointment of a Warehouse Manager at their Belfast depot. Reporting into the Warehouse Operations Manager, you will take day to day ownership of your area of the operation, leading a team of team leaders and warehouse operatives to hit service levels, KPIs and health and safety standards while keeping staff relations strong.
Permanent role, 24 hour operation, working 5 days from 7 on a shift pattern agreed locally with your manager.
The Role
- Plan and manage the day to day running of your area of the warehouse operation.
- Deliver against service levels, KPI targets and budget.
- Lead, motivate and support the team leaders and operatives on shift.
- Manage performance, attendance, quality and health and safety within your team.
- Deliver strong service to retailers, liaising with other departments and suppliers as needed.
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve efficiency and make full use of the technology available.
- Support performance reviews, training and development across the team.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture and make sure any incidents are reported and investigated.
- Protect food safety and quality in storage and handling, keeping the team trained and competent.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in a warehouse supervisory or management post, ideally within logistics or food distribution.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Comfortable problem solving in a fast moving environment.
- Strong communicator, customer focused and driven.
- Working knowledge of warehouse systems, health and safety and HACCP would be an advantage.
- IR awareness and experience of staff and union interface would be an advantage.
- Qualification in logistics or supply chain desirable.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
