VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturer of innovative infrastructure products for the appointment of a Business Development Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading organisation with a strong reputation across the utilities, construction and infrastructure sectors, covering both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing key customer relationships and driving specification-led sales across a wide range of infrastructure projects. This is a field-based position requiring regular travel throughout NI & ROI.

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Sales, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering commercial growth across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. You will work closely with contractors, consultants, utilities, merchants and local authorities to identify new opportunities, increase product specification and develop long-term customer partnerships while supporting regional sales objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a regional business development strategy to achieve sales and profitability targets.
- Identify and secure new opportunities across the construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, utility providers, merchants and public sector organisations.
- Manage a pipeline of projects from early specification through to successful order placement.
- Promote products through customer meetings, technical presentations and site visits.
- Deliver product demonstrations and technical awareness sessions to key stakeholders.
- Work closely with design teams to encourage product specification during the early stages of projects.
- Manage existing accounts while developing new business opportunities across the territory.
- Attend industry exhibitions, networking events and trade shows to strengthen market presence.
- Collaborate with internal sales, technical and operations teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates and market intelligence to senior management.
- Support regional marketing initiatives and product launch activities.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and monitor key sales performance metrics.
- Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with company health and safety standards and compliance procedures.
The Person
- Previous experience in business development or technical sales within construction, infrastructure, utilities or a related sector.
- Experience developing specification-led or project-based sales opportunities.
- Strong commercial awareness with a proven ability to generate and convert new business.
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation.
- Highly organised with effective territory and pipeline management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and achieve sales targets.
- Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Desirable Criteria
- HNC or Degree in Engineering, Business, Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience working with utilities, framework agreements or local authorities.
- Knowledge of civil engineering, drainage or infrastructure products.
- Experience using CRM systems and sales pipeline management software.
- CPD presentation experience.
