VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation to recruit an experienced Human Resources Advisor for a fantastic opportunity within a busy and progressive HR function. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional with strong Employee Relations experience to join a supportive team environment where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality HR advisory services across a diverse organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with managers and employees, providing practical HR guidance, supporting complex casework, and contributing to the delivery of strategic workforce objectives.
The Role
Reporting to the HR & OD Manager, the HR Advisor will provide professional HR support across a broad range of employee relations and generalist HR activities. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and advising on a range of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, attendance management, harassment, and flexible working cases
- Supporting line managers with the interpretation and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Providing practical and legally compliant HR advice across generalist HR issues
- Assisting with recruitment and selection processes in line with best practice and equality legislation
- Liaising with Occupational Health regarding attendance management and pre‑employment assessments
- Supporting onboarding, inductions, employee lifecycle administration, and HR records management
- Assisting with HR reporting, statistical returns, and workforce data analysis
- Promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion across all HR practices
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the HR function and wider organisation
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Current CIPD membership
- Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Human Resources role
- Proven experience providing advice and guidance to managers on employee relations and generalist HR matters
- Experience handling HR casework including disciplinary, grievance, or attendance management processes
- Strong understanding of employment legislation and HR best practice
- Working knowledge of HR Information Systems
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Previous experience within the public sector or a unionised environment
- Experience producing HR reports and workforce statistics
