About your next employer

The post holder is responsible for the development of a proactive programme of community arts events, training, activities and festivals to enhance community access to the arts to maximise long term active participation in the arts on a community outreach basis targeting all sections of the community. The post holder also services Arts Advisory Committee and Historic Quarter Arts Group and assists with the implementation of the Council's Arts Development Strategy and the Council's Community Support Plan. The post holder will undertake duties relevant to the post allocated by the Arts Service Manager and participate in the interchange of duties to cover for staff breaks, sickness, leave and staff vacancies, and will act as a Duty Officer as required.

What you'll do

  • Devise, manage and deliver a proactive, innovative and developmental community arts programme of performances, festivals, exhibitions, classes, workshops, training and talks to enhance community access to the arts.
  • Responsible for the effective management of expenditure and income for the community arts programme including budgetary planning, costing, monitoring, quotations, grant-aid and sponsorship in accordance with the Council's financial regulations and contribute to the preparation of annual estimates for the Arts Service.
  • Prepare external grant aid and sponsorship applications for community arts grants provision and other delegated funds e.g. Community Festivals Fund and be responsible for the processing and monitoring of such funding in line with the requirements of relevant funding bodies for monitoring, drawdown and evaluation.
  • Responsible for the servicing of the Council's Arts Advisory Committee and Historic Quarter Arts Group by assisting with the development, promotion and implementation of schemes, awards and special events and provide advice to other local arts organisations, artists and community groups on arts related grant aid processes and associated applications.
  • Responsible for the operational management and production of the Mayor's Carnival Parade as a major community arts showcase, the annual Children's Arts Festival and Halloween event and for any other allocated community arts event or festival as reasonably allocated by the Arts Service Manager.
  • Responsible for the compilation and co-ordination of the community arts programme in the Arts Service's season brochures and analyse, monitor and review community arts programming trends to include evaluation processes, box office data, pricing policies and through the Arts Information and Education Officer relevant media interaction.
  • Responsible for engaging and the line management of Casual Tutors for all community arts classes and workshops for the organisation of associated rotas, schedules and contracts.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key community arts stakeholders including public, private and community/voluntary organisations on all relevant arts matters to ensure effective partnership working including the promotion and organisation of events originating from these bodies.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to during the planning and execution of community arts events.
