Vanrath are delighted to be recruiting for a Business Support Officer on behalf of a large public sector body in Lisburn on a temporary basis.

Key Purpose
The post holder will be responsible to the Head of Service within the Parks & Amenities Service Unit to provide a business support service which includes the management of financial operations, performance management, projects and business information systems.
What you'll do
- Provide advice and guidance on a directorate wide basis on financial, business information systems, performance management, projects and business administration matters.
- Provide administrative support to the Business Support Manager on a day-to-day basis.
- Be responsible for the coordination of customer care information and other relevant information for the Service Unit.
- Work in collaboration with other Business Support Officers to ensure a corporate approach to business support.
- Assist and facilitate all budget control activities across all functions and facilities within the Service Unit.
- Provide analysis, reporting and preparation of briefing documents and statistical reports for Council Committees.
- Assist and facilitate the preparation and monitoring of the directorate's business plans and risk registers including the development of proposed annual objectives and performance indicators in accordance with the Council and Departmental Objectives and KPIs.
- Lead in the production of business cases and economic/financial appraisals to aid and justify the future development of Service Unit initiatives/projects.
- Assist with purchasing of goods and services in accordance with the Council's Procurement Policy.
- Assist with tenders; evaluating submissions, to procure goods and services in accordance with Council policies.
- Establish and develop a sound working relationship with a number of key stakeholders including tenants, user groups, partnerships, government bodies, other Council departments and service providers.
- Conduct research related to emerging needs of the Service Unit.
- Ensure compliance with Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards on management and personal behaviour, which reflect the core values and behaviours of the organisation.
- Ensure the provision of high standards of customer care across all the services provided by the Unit and promote and manage the service effectively and communicate in a way, which embraces and promotes the public image and overall reputation of the Council, in accordance with agreed Quality Accreditation systems.
- Promote equality of opportunity and access in service delivery.
About you
It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:
- A third level qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ Level 4) or equivalent in Business Administration, Business Management or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years' experience in the following areas:
- Preparation and drafting of financial and management reports for a range of audiences
- Preparation and drafting of business cases / financial appraisals
- Operation of management information systems
Where applicants do not hold the qualification as outlined above, they must demonstrate a minimum of six years' experience as outlined above.
