VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting for a Production Manager to join a growing and ambitious manufacturing business in Limavady. This is a key senior appointment within the organisation, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to have a genuine influence on the continued growth and development of the manufacturing operation.
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you'll take ownership of a large-scale production function, leading approximately 120 employees through a team of Team Leaders and driving performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost and continuous improvement. The business is continuing to grow, making this an exciting time to join and play a significant role in developing production capability, strengthening frontline leadership and improving operational performance.
The Opportunity
This isn't simply a role focused on keeping production moving. You'll be a key member of the operational leadership team, working closely with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Logistics, Scheduling and Project teams to ensure the manufacturing operation is equipped to meet both current and future demand. You'll have the autonomy and responsibility to identify opportunities for improvement, develop your leadership team and introduce processes that support the company's continued expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop Team Leaders and the wider production workforce.
- Take ownership of production performance across safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Plan labour, resources and workflow to meet customer and project requirements.
- Develop a high-performing production culture with clear accountability.
- Monitor production KPIs and implement improvement plans where required.
- Identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints and production risks, taking decisive corrective action.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Logistics and Project teams to improve production flow.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standard work and root-cause problem solving.
- Develop Team Leaders into effective frontline managers.
- Support recruitment, training, succession planning and performance management.
- Contribute to capacity planning, cost reduction and longer-term operational improvement projects.
About You
We're looking for an experienced production leader who is comfortable operating at a senior level and has the leadership capability to manage a large manufacturing workforce. You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager or similar.
- Experience managing large teams through Team Leaders, Supervisors or other frontline managers.
- Strong understanding of production planning, capacity management and shop-floor performance.
- A proven track record of improving manufacturing performance through KPIs and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety and quality requirements within manufacturing.
- Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems and production data to drive performance.
