The Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Legal Assistant to join a leading organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Based in Belfast City Centre, this role will support a busy Legal & Governance team with a particular focus on capital projects and associated workstreams.
You will play a key role in assisting in-house solicitors, ensuring the smooth delivery of legal advice, accurate document preparation, and effective records management, while also providing administrative and organisational support to enhance the overall efficiency of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting in the delivery of legal advice, primarily linked to major projects.
- Preparing, collating, and managing legal documentation and correspondence.
- Co-ordinating diaries, meetings, and working group papers.
- Monitoring legal spend against budgets and reporting discrepancies.
- Managing databases, filing systems, and sensitive/confidential information.
- Liaising with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to progress legal queries.
- Ensuring compliance with records management and information legislation.
Candidate Criteria
Essential:
- Minimum of 1 year\\\’s experience in project administration or supporting legal instructions.
- A HND/HNC qualification (or equivalent).
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft 365.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and research skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with proven ability to handle confidential information.
- A team player with excellent attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a legal environment.
- Experience in records management or scheduling deeds.
- Understanding of budget monitoring and information legislation (e.g. GDPR, FOI).
