We are recruiting on behalf of a valued public sector client for a skilled and motivated Environmental Health Officer to join their team on a 3-month temporary contract. About the Role As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a key role in safeguarding public health through the monitoring, enforcement, and promotion of environmental standards. You will address a variety of environmental and public health issues, including food hygiene, health and safety, housing standards, and environmental protection. This short-term position is ideal for professionals seeking to utilise their expertise in a meaningful way, contributing to essential public health initiatives over a defined period. Key Responsibilities Conducting routine and complaint-led inspections. Investigating breaches of environmental health regulations. Providing professional advice and support to businesses, landlords, and the public. Preparing detailed reports and evidence for legal proceedings, if necessary. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. Contributing to the delivery of public health initiatives during the contract term. About You The successful candidate will have: A degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health. A solid understanding of UK environmental health legislation. Experience in one or more of the following areas: food safety, housing, health and safety, or environmental protection. Strong communication and organisational skills. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role, as travel within the area may be required.
