VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Technical Manager to join a leading food manufacturing business in Dungannon. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing and developing the Technical function, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, product quality, legality and regulatory compliance across the business. The successful candidate will play a central role in driving the company's technical strategy, developing a strong quality culture and delivering continuous improvement across the manufacturing operation.
The Role
- Lead, manage and develop the Technical Team to ensure products consistently meet or exceed required standards.
- Develop and maintain a robust Quality Management System in line with BRCGS and major retailer requirements.
- Maintain and review HACCP plans in accordance with legislation and recognised industry standards.
- Drive the company's technical strategy and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Promote and embed a strong quality and food safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Lead and support customer audits and provide technical support to customers and the Commercial team.
- Liaise with DAERA and other regulatory authorities to ensure ongoing statutory compliance.
- Provide regular reports to senior management covering product safety, legality, quality and process controls.
- Ensure critical food safety and quality activities, including calibration and temperature monitoring, are effectively managed.
- Ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented where standards or procedures are not met.
- Lead the training and development of production operatives in quality systems and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant food safety, quality and labelling legislation.
- Support the Logistics team with export and import certification requirements.
- Introduce and improve systems and processes to enhance technical performance across the business.
About You
- A degree in Food Technology, Food Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' management experience within a Technical, Quality or Food Manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing and maintaining BRCGS accreditation.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, regulatory compliance and auditing frameworks.
- HACCP Level 4 qualification.
- Proven experience leading, developing and motivating technical teams.
- Experience managing customer and third-party audits.
- Experience working with regulatory authorities.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and business systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills at all levels.
- A proactive, organised and results-focused approach to continuous improvement.
