We are working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in the Dungannon area to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of complex design projects. Reporting to the Design Manager, you will lead design activities from concept through to production and collaborate closely with manufacturing teams.

The Role

  • Design and develop bespoke vehicles and metal products to a high standard
  • Produce accurate 3D models, technical drawings
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical and efficient
  • Carry out structural, stress and tolerance calculations
  • Prepare technical documentation including design specs, reports and manuals
  • Support continuous improvement of existing product designs
  • Source and specify appropriate materials for each project
  • Maintain and manage a log of design issues and resolutions
  • Ensure all work complies with ISO 9001 and health & safety standards
  • Review and implement design changes with consideration to cost, feasibility and timelines

What You'll Need

  • Experience in a mechanical design role within heavy engineering
  • Strong experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Excellent technical drawing and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of type approval processes
