My client is a global technology organisation currently hiring a Technical Team Lead to join an established software engineering team based in Belfast. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technical leader to take ownership of a cross‑functional development team delivering business‑critical applications within a modern cloud‑based environment.

You will join a high‑performing engineering function responsible for delivering scalable, resilient software solutions used across a complex global business. Working within an Agile environment, you will provide hands‑on technical leadership while mentoring and developing engineers, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of key strategic initiatives.

As Technical Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers through the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through to deployment and production support. You will work closely with architects, product owners, business analysts, and delivery teams to ensure solutions align with business objectives and technical standards. You will champion engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, cloud‑native development, and secure software delivery. The role offers a strong balance between people leadership and hands‑on technical contribution.

The Person

  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams within Agile environments (Scrum, SAFe or similar).
  • Strong hands‑on software development experience using C#, Java, or another modern programming language.
  • Experience designing and delivering distributed, event‑driven, or cloud‑native applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, object‑oriented design principles, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control systems (Git, GitLab, or similar), and automated deployment processes.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing engineers within a team environment.
  • Ability to balance delivery timelines with technical quality and long‑term maintainability.

Desirable

  • Experience within financial services, fintech, trading platforms, or other highly transactional environments.
  • Exposure to event‑driven architectures and messaging technologies.
