The Role

VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation to appoint a Business Support Officer based in Downpatrick on a short-term interim contract. The successful post holder will provide a comprehensive and flexible administrative service across a range of Council departments, ensuring high standards of customer service and operational support are delivered at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality administrative and secretarial support to multiple Council Officers and teams.
  • Act as a first point of contact for internal and external queries, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Process and record applications, financial transactions, and correspondence in line with approved procedures.
  • Support meetings including preparation of agendas, minute-taking, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, and filing systems in compliance with data protection requirements.
  • Assist in the organisation of departmental projects and events as required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven administrative experience within a busy office environment, ideally within the public sector.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages and general IT systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
