A well-established and growing engineering manufacturer within the power sector is seeking a Lead Technical Trainer (Switchgear) to join its team. This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to play a key role in developing technical capability across manufacturing and assembly teams within a stable, people-focused organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Production, you will be responsible for delivering technical training on low, medium and high-voltage switchgear systems. The role blends classroom-based instruction with hands-on practical training to support safe, compliant and high-quality build operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering theoretical and practical training on LV/MV/HV switchgear
- Explaining operating principles, protection schemes and control logic
- Developing and updating training materials, manuals and assessments
- Providing troubleshooting and fault-finding support
- Ensuring training aligns with electrical safety standards and regulations
- Supporting commissioning, testing and technical queries as required
The Person
You will ideally have:
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar technical or training-focused role
- Strong hands-on experience with switchgear systems
- Knowledge of protection relays (ABB, Siemens, Schneider, GE, etc.)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts
Desirable:
- OEM, utility or manufacturing background
- Previous training or mentoring experience
- Electrical Engineering qualification (Degree or Diploma)
