A well-established heavy manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its production team. This is a hands-on role within a demanding industrial environment, offering stable day-shift hours, an early finish on Fridays, and strong hourly rates.
The Role:
- Assemble, install, align, and commission mechanical components and heavy machinery
- Carry out routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and shutdown maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical faults and complete breakdown repairs to minimise downtime
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve mechanical issues
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety procedures and permit systems
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area
- Complete maintenance records and job documentation accurately
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Fitter within a heavy manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, and conveyors
- Competent using hand tools and power tools
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
