Rate: £17-£18 per hour

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Friday: 8:00am - 2:00pm (early finish)

A well-established heavy manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its production team. This is a hands-on role within a demanding industrial environment, offering stable day-shift hours, an early finish on Fridays, and strong hourly rates.

The Role:

  • Assemble, install, align, and commission mechanical components and heavy machinery
  • Carry out routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and shutdown maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and complete breakdown repairs to minimise downtime
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to resolve mechanical issues
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety procedures and permit systems
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area
  • Complete maintenance records and job documentation accurately

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Fitter within a heavy manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment
  • Strong mechanical knowledge including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, and conveyors
  • Competent using hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
