An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Family Solicitor to join a well-established and highly regarded law firm in Coleraine. This position offers the chance to work on a varied and rewarding caseload of family law matters, with regular advocacy in both the County Court and High Court. Working as part of an experienced and supportive team, you'll advise clients through what are often some of the most important and sensitive matters of their lives. The Role
- You will manage your own caseload while working closely with colleagues and Counsel where appropriate.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising clients across a broad range of family law matters.
- Managing divorce and judicial separation proceedings.
- Advising on financial relief and ancillary relief applications.
- Handling private law children matters, including contact and residence disputes.
- Acting in domestic abuse proceedings, including non-molestation and occupation order applications.
- Advising on civil partnership dissolution and cohabitation disputes.
- Preparing separation agreements and advising on pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
- Drafting pleadings, affidavits, witness statements and other court documentation.
- Representing clients in both the County Court and High Court.
- Negotiating settlements where appropriate and working collaboratively with Counsel and other professionals.
- Managing files from initial instruction through to conclusion while maintaining the highest standards of client care.
About You
Applications are welcomed from qualified solicitors with experience in family law. Candidates with varying levels of post-qualification experience who can demonstrate the relevant skills and experience are encouraged to apply. You'll ideally have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in Northern Ireland.
- Experience managing a family law caseload.
- Advocacy experience in the County Court, with High Court experience being advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of Northern Ireland family law and court procedures.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
- A compassionate and pragmatic approach when advising clients on sensitive matters.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and court deadlines.
