VANRATH is partnering with a well-established organisation to recruit a Business Development Manager to manage and grow a defined territory across parts of County Antrim and County Derry/Londonderry. This is a field-based role focused primarily on developing and nurturing an excellent portfolio of existing accounts, with additional scope to identify new opportunities within the region. The successful candidate will inherit a strong customer base and will play a key role in strengthening long-term relationships and driving revenue growth.
Role Summary
The Business Developer will be responsible for managing customer relationships across the assigned territory, ensuring consistent service delivery, identifying upsell opportunities, and representing the business in a professional and customer-focused manner. This role suits someone who enjoys autonomy, face-to-face engagement, and relationship-led sales.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Manage and develop a portfolio of established customer accounts between the Mallusk, Magherafelt, and Ballymena areas
- Build strong, long-term relationships through regular on-site visits and proactive communication
- Identify opportunities to grow account value through product and service recommendations
- Conduct scheduled customer meetings aligned to agreed sales and service objectives
- Maintain accurate records of customer activity, opportunities, and pipeline updates
- Monitor market activity and competitor trends within the territory
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently
- Represent the business professionally at customer sites and local industry events as required
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Previous experience in a field sales, account management, or business development role (ideally within engineering or construction)
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage a regional territory independently
- Well organised, with strong time management and planning skills
- Confident using CRM systems and digital tools
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience managing an existing customer base
- Background in distribution, construction, engineering, or technical sales environments
- Knowledge of the local Northern Ireland market
