Key Responsibilities
- To provide technical and catering support in operating particular Curriculum practical areas (campus Canteen, Training Restaurant, associated Training Kitchens, classrooms).
- To provide support and assistance to Lecturing staff and students using these areas.
- To support the required levels of catering delivery for college staff, students and other users associated with these areas by Curriculum during set operating hours.
- To support and collaborate effectively with the Catering Technician Band 4 in the day-to-day fulfilment of catering and associated teaching services across the campus, providing an efficient and hygienic service, including cash handling duties.
What you\’ll do
- Assist as required in the preparation and opening of the Canteen, Training Restaurant, Training Kitchens and Teaching areas, ensuring that areas are ready for both catering and teaching delivery at the required times at the required levels, including special events.
- Operate equipment and use supplies and stock in compliance with professional and safe working practices, for both catering and teaching delivery.
- Assist Lecturing staff and students in the professional and safe use of equipment and stock to enable both catering and teaching delivery.
- Assist in the implementation of current Health and Safety and Hygiene Regulations in relation to the use and distribution of all resources, ensuring optimum standards in all relevant catering and teaching facilities, and the general safety of all users including students and public customers.
- Assist in the preparation of food and beverages.
- Assist in the organisation and control of food service points and points of sale, including serving food and operating the point of sale.
- Assist in daily financial management, including counting cash, checking float, audit roll and preparing lodgements, in compliance with college financial procedures and controls in relation to cash and electronic payments.
- Assist in the setting out and clearance of furniture and cutlery as required.
- Assist in the tidying and professional treatment of all equipment, stock and catering areas at the end of daily sessions, ensuring cleaning, dismantling and storage in compliance with current Health and Safety and Hygiene Regulations, including disposal of waste in the approved manner.
- Assist managing stocks and supplies, including storage and vending machines, as instructed by the line manager.
- Assist in regular deep cleans of Curriculum practical areas and equipment.
- Assist Lecturing staff and students with set-up and clearance for exhibitions, displays and other special events.
About you
Essential:
- At least 1 year\’s catering experience, including responsibility for cooking.
Desirable:
- Level 2 or equivalent in Catering
- Food Hygiene qualification
