VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our major Public Sector client, a large organisation with the recruitment of a Business Support Assistant to join their team based in Antrim.

About your next employer

You'll be joining a large local authority within its Waste and Sustainability function. The department delivers essential frontline services including household collections, recycling operations and environmental initiatives.

About you

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A-C) including English and Maths (or equivalent) OR 4 years' relevant administrative experience
  • At least 2 years' administrative or clerical experience, including minute taking
  • Experience in a customer service role with direct contact (phone and face-to-face)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and Windows systems
  • High attention to detail with strong financial accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks
  • Full driving licence (or access to suitable transport)
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required

What you'll do

  • Act as the first point of contact for waste-related enquiries and complaints
  • Handle calls, emails, live chat and social media queries
  • Process payments, invoices and daily financial reconciliations
  • Maintain and update multiple internal databases and reporting systems
  • Support fleet, recycling centre and operational reporting processes
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Provide administrative support to managers and senior leadership
  • Assist with statutory data reporting and Freedom of Information requests
