An established organisation is continuing to invest in its Data & Analytics function and is looking for a BI Data Engineer to join its growing team in Belfast. This is a great opportunity for a BI Data Engineer with a background in data engineering, business intelligence, SQL and data analytics to join a forward-thinking team and play a key role in improving how data is managed, accessed and used across the organisation.

You'll work across data pipelines, ETL, data modelling, reporting and analytics, helping to develop reliable data solutions and support better business decision-making. There will also be opportunities to work with modern technologies and contribute to wider data, analytics and AI initiatives. The role offers a hybrid working model in Belfast, a competitive salary of Β£45,000-Β£50,000, and the opportunity to develop your skills within an established Data & Analytics environment.

The Role

As a BI Data Engineer, you'll sit across the data engineering and business intelligence space, helping to ensure data is reliable, well structured and accessible for reporting and analytics. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining ETL processes and data pipelines
  • Supporting the integration of data from multiple sources
  • Designing and maintaining effective data models for reporting and analytics
  • Working with data warehouses and modern data platforms
  • Supporting business intelligence and reporting requirements
  • Developing and improving data processes to enhance performance and reliability
  • Identifying opportunities to improve data quality and consistency
  • Working with stakeholders to understand data and reporting requirements
  • Supporting dashboards, reporting products and analytical solutions
  • Troubleshooting data and reporting issues
  • Contributing to wider analytics, automation, AI and machine learning initiatives
  • Helping to improve data processes, standards and ways of working across the team

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a BI Data Engineer or someone from a closely related Data Engineering, BI or Data Analyst background who is looking to develop further within a data-focused role. You'll ideally have:

  • 2+ years' experience in a relevant data, BI or data engineering role
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
  • Experience developing or supporting ETL processes
  • Understanding of data modelling and data warehousing
  • Experience working with business intelligence or reporting technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good attention to detail and a focus on data quality
  • The ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A proactive and collaborative approach

Technical Experience

Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:

  • Databricks
  • AWS / AWS Glue
  • Python or PySpark
  • Delta Lake
  • Spark
  • Power BI, Qlik or Tableau
  • API integrations
  • SQL Server / relational databases
  • Data quality and governance
  • Advanced analytics, AI or Machine Learning

You don't need to have experience across every technology listed. We're particularly interested in candidates with a strong SQL, BI and data background who are keen to work with modern data platforms.
