We are currently recruiting for several Senior Engineer positions within the Operations Continuity & Transformation (OCT) team of a leading organisation responsible for the operation and security of Northern Ireland's electricity transmission network. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers to join a technically focused team working at the heart of Northern Ireland's energy transition.

The successful candidates will provide technical expertise across areas including power system performance, incident analysis, operational policy, compliance, metering, data assurance and regional coordination, helping to maintain a secure and reliable electricity system while supporting the transformation of the wider energy network.

The Role

There are several positions available, with responsibilities varying depending on the specific role. Collectively, the team will support Operations Continuity & Transformation activities by:

  • Monitoring and assessing power system performance to identify risks to secure and reliable operation.
  • Supporting the investigation and analysis of system incidents and near misses, including contributing to lessons learned.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of operational policies, procedures and standards.
  • Supporting compliance with Grid Code, EU Network Codes and relevant licence obligations.
  • Providing technical analysis to support system integrity, operational decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the development, validation and use of operational data, models and reporting outputs.
  • Contributing to metering and data assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of operational information.
  • Supporting coordination and engagement with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of new tools, processes and operational improvements.
  • Supporting OCT priorities, responding to operational queries and emerging system issues.

About You

We are looking for an experienced engineer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a background within the energy, utilities or related sectors.

Essential:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience working within an energy, utilities or policy-related environment.
  • Strong understanding of power system operations and/or operational policy frameworks.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • System operations or performance monitoring
    • Incident analysis and reporting
    • Operational policy or compliance
    • Metering, data or performance reporting
    • Operational modelling or technical analysis
  • Strong ability to interpret complex technical data and identify operational risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Experience working with operational processes, procedures or standards.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within agreed timescales.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process development.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Grid Code, EU Network Codes and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience of cross-TSO coordination or all-island market arrangements.
  • Experience producing technical reports, analysis or modelling.
  • Familiarity with operational tools, data systems and reporting platforms.
  • Experience supporting operational change or transformation programmes.
