VANRATH are delighted to be supporting a respected employer in the appointment of a Procurement Officer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established procurement function where you'll take ownership of a varied portfolio of procurement activity while supporting colleagues across the organisation.
The successful candidate will manage end-to-end procurement exercises, contribute to contract management activities and help ensure value for money and compliance across a diverse range of purchasing requirements. This role would suit someone with previous public sector procurement experience who enjoys working closely with stakeholders and delivering practical procurement solutions.
The Role
- Managing end-to-end procurement exercises for lower value procurements in line with relevant legislation and organisational procedures.
- Providing procurement guidance and support to managers across a range of departments.
- Preparing procurement documentation, including specifications, evaluation criteria and tender documentation.
- Supporting supplier selection, evaluation and contract award processes.
- Maintaining accurate procurement and contract records.
- Assisting with the monitoring and management of supplier performance throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Producing procurement and spend reports to support planning and decision making.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes.
- Building effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Promoting best practice, governance and value for money throughout the procurement process.
The Person
- Applicants should have either a relevant third-level qualification with at least 2 years' procurement experience, or 4 years' relevant procurement experience.
- Experience managing procurement exercises from initial requirement through to contract award.
- Strong knowledge of public sector procurement principles and legislation in Northern Ireland.
- Experience advising and supporting stakeholders throughout the procurement process.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience analysing supplier or procurement data.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using electronic procurement or contract management systems.
Desirable
- Previous experience within a public sector environment.
- Experience using financial or reporting systems.
- Experience producing procurement performance or spend reports.
- Knowledge of procurement audit or governance requirements.
