A superb opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Preconstruction Manager to join a highly respected M&E engineering contractor based in Belfast. Operating across Commercial, Healthcare, Education and Industrial sectors, this contractor is recognised for delivering highly coordinated, technically complex building services solutions throughout the UK and Ireland. Due to continued project wins and a strong forward pipeline, the business is now expanding its preconstruction function and is seeking a Mechanical Building Services professional who can shape design and drive commercial value from concept stage.
THE IDEAL PERSON
You will come from a Building Services background with experience in preconstruction, design coordination or contract management. Degree qualified or holding HNC/HND (or equivalent experience), you will demonstrate strong technical understanding of mechanical building services design, Building Regulations compliance, and BIM-led delivery. Commercially focused, organised, and confident working with designers, external consultants and clients, you will be comfortable driving efficient, compliant and commercially competitive building services design solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading mechanical building services design development from concept through to tender
- Appointing, coordinating and managing design consultants and specialist disciplines
- Managing Contractor Design Portions (CDP) and encouraging innovation / value engineering
- Organising technical workshops and attending design and client meetings
- Ensuring design compliance with Building Regulations, standards and Codes of Practice
- Supporting cost planning and aligning design decisions to commercial strategy
- Overseeing the BIM process and working alongside in-house Revit teams to deliver coordinated models
- Preparing and submitting technical documentation and approvals
- Providing visibility of design status, programme and commercial considerations to project delivery teams
- Administering contracts during design stage, including applications, early warnings and compensation events where required
REMUNERATION
Competitive salary in the region of £50,000 - £60,000 (DOE) plus an excellent company benefits package: 29 days annual leave including statutory days, increasing with long service, Company pension scheme, Private healthcare (after 1 year service), Free on-site parking, Health & Wellbeing Committee initiatives, Death in Service (2 x salary after 1 year service).
