Our client is seeking a skilled Network Operations Centre Engineer to join a high-performing 24/7 Technology Operations environment based onsite in Belfast. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong Network Operations Centre Engineer who enjoys working in fast-paced operational environments, troubleshooting critical incidents, and supporting enterprise-scale network infrastructure across a diverse customer estate.

Working from a brand-new Technology Operations Command Centre, the successful Network Operations Centre Engineer will play a key role in ensuring network stability, service availability, and operational excellence across mission-critical services.

The Role

As a Network Operations Centre Engineer, you will be responsible for proactively monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving network and systems incidents within a 24/7 operational environment. You'll work closely with internal engineering teams, third-party vendors, and operational stakeholders to ensure issues are identified and resolved quickly while maintaining excellent customer communication and service standards. This role offers excellent exposure to enterprise networking technologies and provides strong opportunities for technical development and career progression.

Shift Pattern

This role operates on a 24/7 rota: 4 days on / 4 days off

  • 2 weeks Day shifts: 07:00 - 19:00
  • 2 weeks Night shifts: 19:00 - 07:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Monitoring & Incident Management
    • Proactively monitor network performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise monitoring platforms
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults across LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and telecoms environments
    • Respond to incidents quickly to minimise service disruption and customer impact
    • Log, manage, and progress incidents and service requests through to resolution
    • Ensure accurate ticket updates, documentation, and customer communications throughout the incident lifecycle
    • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or external vendors where appropriate
  • Operational Support
    • Perform routine network health checks and preventative maintenance activities
    • Deploy patches, firmware updates, and minor configuration changes where required
    • Produce detailed shift handovers, incident summaries, and technical documentation
    • Work within SLA-driven environments to achieve high levels of service performance
    • Support operational improvements and contribute to service stability initiatives
  • Stakeholder Communication
    • Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
    • Maintain a calm and methodical approach during high-severity incidents
    • Collaborate effectively with wider Technology Operations and Engineering teams

About You

To be successful in this Network Operations Centre Engineer role, you will have:

  • Ideally 1-2 years experience within a Network Engineering and IT Service Desk environment
  • Experience troubleshooting routing and switching technologies
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Experience supporting multi-vendor environments such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, or AWS
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring and ticketing tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, ServiceNow, or BMC Remedy
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation standards
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure within a 24/7 operational setting

Qualifications

CCNA or equivalent networking certification great to have but not essential. Eligible to obtain Security Clearance.
