VANRATH are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical BIM Technician to work for a leading M&E Contractor, based in Belfast or Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland.

Overview of Role: The Mechanical & Electrical BIM Technician will be responsible for producing, developing and coordinating 3D BIM models and technical drawings for mechanical and electrical building services. Working closely with engineers, project managers, site teams and other trades, the role will involve developing coordinated models and drawings from design information, identifying and resolving clashes, and ensuring BIM information is produced accurately and in accordance with project requirements. The role will primarily involve working with Autodesk Revit MEP, AutoCAD and Navisworks across a range of construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Produce and maintain mechanical and electrical BIM models using Autodesk Revit MEP
- Produce detailed 2D drawings, layouts, sections, details and schedules from BIM models
- Model mechanical and electrical services including ductwork, pipework, equipment, containment and associated services
- Coordinate M&E services with architectural, structural and other building services models
- Carry out clash detection and assist with resolving coordination issues using Navisworks/Revit
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and site information and incorporate changes into BIM models
- Produce construction and installation drawings to agreed project standards
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date models throughout the project lifecycle
- Work in accordance with project BIM Execution Plans, modelling standards and information requirements
- Liaise with engineers, project managers, subcontractors and site teams to resolve technical and coordination issues
- Assist with model and drawing revisions, document control and information management
- Attend project/site meetings or site visits where required
- Work to project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
The Person:
- Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a BIM, Revit MEP, CAD or M&E building services role
- Practical experience using Autodesk Revit MEP is essential
- Experience within a building services contractor, M&E contractor, construction company or engineering consultancy
- A relevant qualification such as HNC/HND, BTEC, Level 3/4/5 qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, BIM, Construction or a related discipline is desirable but not essential
- Formal BIM/Revit qualifications or certification would be advantageous but are not essential where the candidate can demonstrate suitable practical experience
- Experience producing mechanical and electrical BIM models and technical drawings
- Good understanding of mechanical and electrical building services and how they are installed and coordinated within buildings
- Experience with Navisworks and clash detection would be advantageous
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and construction information
- Good understanding of BIM processes and model coordination
- Good IT and Microsoft Office skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a wider project team
- Ability to manage workloads and meet project deadlines
