This is a role that offers genuine ownership of your own caseload, exposure to both County Court and High Court litigation, and the opportunity to work on a broad range of employers' liability, public liability and occupiers' liability claims. You'll handle a substantial and varied caseload of approximately 100 files, with matters ranging from more straightforward personal injury claims through to complex and significant high-value litigation.

The Role
You will take responsibility for matters from initial instruction through to completion, working alongside an experienced senior solicitor who provides support and guidance while giving you the autonomy to develop your own practice. Your caseload will include a mix of County Court and High Court matters across: Employers' Liability Public Liability Occupiers' Liability Wider personal injury litigation You will be responsible for: Managing your own caseload of approximately 100 matters.
Taking detailed client instructions and providing clear, practical legal advice. Assessing liability, quantum, causation and overall case strategy. Drafting letters of claim, pleadings, court proceedings, correspondence and witness statements. Reviewing medical records, witness evidence and other relevant documentation. Progressing claims through the Northern Ireland litigation process. Attending court reviews, hearings and other procedural matters in both the County Court and High Court. Instructing and liaising with junior and senior Counsel.
Working with medical, liability and other specialist experts. Negotiating settlements and bringing matters through to conclusion. Preparing more complex matters for hearing and trial. Working alongside an experienced senior solicitor on significant and higher-value cases. Quality & High-Value Work One of the key attractions of this opportunity is the quality and variety of the litigation.
The team handles a number of significant high-value cases, giving you exposure to senior and junior Counsel, multiple medical experts and specialists dealing with issues including causation, liability and quantum. On more complex matters, you may also have the opportunity to become involved in instructing care experts, forensic accountants and other specialist witnesses.
This provides an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who wants to develop their technical knowledge and gain experience of complex litigation rather than working solely on routine, lower-value claims.
About You
We're keen to speak with NI-qualified Solicitors with 1+ PQE who have experience in EL, PL, personal injury or related claimant litigation. You'll ideally have: Experience managing your own litigation caseload. Experience in EL, PL, occupiers' liability and/or personal injury claims. A good understanding of the Northern Ireland litigation process. Strong drafting, analytical and negotiation skills. Excellent client care and communication skills. Strong organisation and attention to detail.
The confidence to take ownership of matters and progress them independently. A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in litigation. The firm is open to candidates with slightly different backgrounds, so strong claimant litigation or personal injury experience will also be considered.
