Litigation lawyer (Permanent) in Belfast

Are you a Litigation Solicitor looking for a role where you can take ownership of your own caseload, have genuine client contact and continue to develop as a litigator? This could be the opportunity for you. We are working with a well-established Belfast law firm that is looking to appoint a Litigation Solicitor at 2-3 years' PQE to join its growing litigation team.

This is a hands-on role for a solicitor who enjoys being involved in their cases from start to finish. You'll manage your own portfolio of approximately 100-150 plaintiff litigation matters, predominantly personal injury and road traffic accident claims, while also gaining exposure to a niche area of contract disputes. Importantly, this isn't simply a file-management role.

You'll have the opportunity to advise clients, develop case strategy, negotiate, draft, attend court and see your matters through to resolution, with the support of an experienced team around you.

What will you be doing?

• Managing a varied caseload of plaintiff personal injury and road traffic accident litigation.
• Taking ownership of matters from initial instruction through to settlement or trial.
• Advising clients and maintaining strong relationships throughout their claims.
• Preparing pleadings, correspondence, statements and other legal documentation.
• Liaising with counsel, experts, insurers and other third parties.
• Negotiating settlements and progressing matters through the litigation process.
• Handling a smaller number of contract dispute and wider civil litigation matters.
• Supporting and assisting with the day-to-day management of a small team of paralegals.
• Contributing to the continued development of the firm's litigation offering.

What are they looking for?

We're looking for a qualified Litigation Solicitor with around 2-3 years' PQE and solid practical experience in litigation. You don't need to have followed one particular career path. The strongest candidates are likely to have experience in plaintiff personal injury, RTA, general civil litigation or another area of contentious work, together with the confidence to manage their own files.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong hands-on litigation experience.
• Experience managing your own caseload.
• A good understanding of civil procedure and court processes.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Excellent client-care and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
• Good organisation and attention to detail.
• An interest in developing your experience across both personal injury and wider civil disputes.
• Experience of contract disputes would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
