What You'll Do

As the Legal Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for the smooth operation of the firm's financial processes in line with the Solicitors' Accounts Regulations. Your duties will include:

  • Managing daily bookkeeping for both client and office accounts
  • Processing payments, receipts, and bank transfers
  • Completing bank reconciliations and monitoring client account transactions
  • Producing financial statements, ledgers, and reports for partners
  • Handling sales and purchase ledger duties
  • Monitoring aged debtors and assisting with credit control
  • Preparing and issuing invoices and fee notes
  • Ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and internal controls
  • Liaising with fee earners, partners, clients, and external stakeholders to resolve financial queries
  • Supporting the firm with month-end processes and audit preparation

About You

  • Experience in a legal bookkeeping, legal cashier, or finance support role (law firm experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Solicitors' Accounts Rules or willingness to learn
  • Confident with accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of the finance function
  • Professional, confidential, and reliable
  • Great communication skills and a positive, team-focused approach
